Elite Doctoral Student Award Competition 2025

A. The guideline is based on the regulation of Elite Doctoral Student Award.

  • Eligibility: All currently enrolled CMU 1st to 5th year doctoral students.
  • Contestants must be nominated by their advisors. Recommendation letter from their advisor and statement of research accomplishment should be submitted for Initial Selection held by each college.
  • The contestants who are selected and recommended by each college after the Initial Selection (i.e. Semi-finalists) are qualified to participate in the secondary Poster Presentation Contest. The Semi-finalists are expected to present their poster at the indicated time. The committee members of Elite Doctoral Student Award will be judges for the Group A competition. The finalist will be selected according to the score ranking and advanced to the final oral contest.
  • For the Final Oral Contest, finalists shall prepare slides and abstract (PDF format) in English and submit to the Office of Graduate Student Affairs in advance. The Oral Contest consists of 8 minutes of oral presentation about their research plus Q&A for 2 minutes.

 B. Important dates:

  • The announcement of the Initial Selection: Oct. 29th, 2025
  • Poster submission deadline: Oct. 31st ,2025
  • The date of Poster Presentation Contest: will be separately notified.
    • Choose one competition day between Nov. 10 and 14, 2025)
  • Abstract and Slide submission deadline: Nov. 12 th, 2025
  • The date of Final Oral Contest: will be separately notified.

C. The venue and the exact dates for Poster Presentation Contest and Oral Presentation will be announced via email.

D. Prizes for Final Oral Contest*

  • The First place: NTD$ 50,000
  • The Second place: NTD$ 30,000
  • The Third place: NTD$ 10,000

E. Notices

  • The poster will be printed out by the Office of Graduate Student Affairs with no additional costs.
  • The contestants are expected to present their poster at the indicated time. The contestants must attend the contest. Otherwise your absence might affect your score in the contest.
  • Semi-finalists are required to attend the entire oral contest.
  • The poster may contain the information that has been presented at other meetings or conferences. The poster cannot contain the same content previously used in this contest.
  • The contestant must follow research ethics and copyright regulations should be followed. Direct translation or plagiarism of the research paper is not permitted. All citations must be properly referenced.
